Notes
- Covers the department of Guatemala (17 municipalities): private constructions authorized by each municipality, as published by the Instituto Nacional de Estadística (INE) on its open-data portal. Quarterly; each year is published about ten months after it closes.
- Records with impossible values (for example 7.7 million square meters declared for Q652) still count as an authorization, but their area is left out of the square-meter total.
- The INE file for 2023 has no record for the municipality of Guatemala in the first quarter, so the 2023 total is understated and the change from 2023 to 2024 is overstated.
How to read it
- Permits lead construction by 6 to 18 months: they say where supply is coming from, not what has been delivered.
- Scope differs by country: a capital-district series and a national one are not comparable head to head.
- Counts and square meters move differently: a few large towers raise square meters without raising counts.
